01 / PROJECT FIT

Application & selection

Review the booth, powder, colour frequency, maintenance needs and interfaces with existing equipment.

02 / PROCESS

Process & configuration

Cyclone and cartridge filtration arrangements can be considered. Suitability and performance depend on powder and site conditions.

Process, equipment and service scope are confirmed for each project.

05 / WHEN

When recovery becomes mandatory

Four signals: high powder consumption, frequent colour changes, visible dust in the workshop, and strict local emission requirements. Any two of these together make a filter-only exhaust uneconomical.

Recovery is not environmental decoration; it changes the cost structure. Every percentage point of transfer efficiency gained translates into a recurring saving against annual powder spend.

06 / SELECT

Two-stage or single-stage

The usual configuration is cyclone plus cartridge filtration: the cyclone separates the bulk of reusable powder, the cartridges handle fines and exhaust. For low consumption and infrequent colour changes, a single-stage cartridge system with final filtration is adequate.

Selection depends on particle-size distribution, colour-change frequency and target recovery rate — not on floor area. If colour changes move from once a day to three times a shift, the design has to change with it.

07 / PAYBACK

Calculating recovery honestly

The correct calculation is annual powder consumption times unit price times the realistic reusable fraction, minus the recovery system's power and maintenance cost. The reusable fraction must not be taken at the theoretical figure; it has to be discounted for actual powder cleanliness measured on site.

We recommend a small-scale trial before committing to a design, rather than using an attractive recovery number to justify a decision.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can recovered powder be reused directly?
Yes, but it should be graded by cleanliness. Cyclone-captured coarse powder is normally reusable; fine powder from the cartridges is generally not re-sprayed. The blending ratio should be established by on-site measurement.

How long does colour change take?
It depends on the design. A well-designed system can be cleaned in a range from roughly a quarter of an hour to half an hour, and whether automatic gun cleaning and quick-release ducting are included makes a large difference.

Is it noisy?
The fan is the main noise source. Silencing and vibration isolation can be specified to site requirements; actual decibel levels depend on the fan model.
